Continue with your Studies

Students undertake further study for various reasons e.g.

  • real passion and interest in the subject;
  • need to obtain a specific qualification required for/will enhance entry into a job;
  • uncertain as to job choice and believe that further study will develop skills, knowledge and greater maturity in making job choice
  • the value of graduate study/further training at a time of economic uncertainty

Taking a Year Out

Some students feel that taking a gap between graduation and beginning a career or resuming higher education will offer opportunities to e.g. travel and/or work abroad.  If you are considering this option, then there is lots of information available to help you decide on what to do and where, i.e. - http://www.wit.ie/CareersCentre/Jobs/VoluntaryandWorkExperience-HomeandAbroad/.  Planning well ahead will help you to make an informed decision and to make the most of opportunities available.
