W.I.T. Alumni Achievement Awards

Purpose

The W.I.T. Alumni Achievement Awards have been designed to recognize individual excellence and achievement among the Institute's 30,000 graduates worldwide.  The awards will be bestowed upon individuals who have made a meaningful contribution to their alma mater, to WIT, to their communities, to their professions and to society and whose accomplishments serve as an inspiration to us all.

Recipients

The awards celebrate success, commitement, diversity, integrity, innovation and opportunity.  The aim of the awards is to identify the many role models amongst us that exhibit these qualities.  The categories under which nominees will be recognized are: Rising Star, International Alumni, National Alumni, A League of Their Own and Lifetime Achievement.  

Role Models

The awards will highlight the success of individuals who have the discipline, drive and determination to set high standards and accomplish their goals.

Eligibility

• Nominees must hold a qualification from W.I.T. and be an individual who, in deed or action, reflects the importance of his/her education at W.I.T.
• Nominees must have reached a significant level of achievement, be highly distinguished locally, nationally or internationally for their business, profession or life's work.
• Nominees must have demonstrated an exceptional community spirit and have given of themselves to their communities in a note worthy way.
• Nominees must have demonstrated an outstanding achievement in sport, arts or culture.

Selection Process

A panel of experts will form a selection committee of representatives, from W.I.T., Alumni Executive Board and the community.  Nominations will be reviewed by the panel at four meetings per year to determine the winners of each award, following which a luncheon will be held for recipients of each award.

Nominations

Nominations will be collected by W.I.T. Alumni Office and can be submitted by completing a nomination form and returning by post or email, to W.I.T. Alumni Office, Waterford Institute of Technology, Cork Road, Waterford.  The nomination must include a supporting statement describing why the individual deserves the award for which they are nominated.  Winners will be announced via email, W.I.T. Alumni website and local press.

Gala Dinner

Recipients will be joined by friends, family, staff and members of the community to celebrate their success at a Gala Dinner in Waterford Institute of Technology Autumn 2010.
