School of Business signs Double Degree programme with Ecole Superieure de Commerce, Brest, France.
Posted: Fri, February 3, 2012

The Department of Graduate Business at WIT, has completed the formal signing for its new Double Degree - involving the MBS Internationalisation degree at WIT and the Master of Business Studies degree at the Ecole Superieure de Commerce, Brest, in France. The formal signing ceremony was hosted by the Brest Chamber of Commerce in its corporate offices in Brest.

The Double Degree programme commenced in September 2011, and involves students on the MBSI degree working on a number of common modules with their colleagues on the MIB degree in Brest - including a residential study trip to France - which took place last week. Upon successful completion of their studies, students on both programmes will be awarded the MBSI degree at WIT - and the MIB degree at ESC BRETAGNE Brest - a Double Degree.

The advent of the Double Degree provides significant benefits for the MBSI student cohort – and for the School of Business as a whole. The programme provides enhanced learning opportunities for students and exposes them to alternate teaching and learning environments. It also contributes to the development of business and educational networks between France and Ireland. In particular, the increased attractiveness of the MBSI programme provides marketing opportunities in the domestic market and especially in international markets. It is hoped that student applications from outside Europe will increase and the model will now open opportunities for the development of similar partnerships in other European and international markets.

The Double Degree is the first International Consortium Agreement of its kind in the IOT Sector in Ireland and was facilitated through the collaborative efforts of the programme leader, Mr Declan Cahill, Dr Richard Hayes and Ms Tara Ryan at HETAC.
The formal process of programme approval also included a Joint Awarding Authority agreement between HETAC and Brest Chamber of Commerce.

WIT's Graduate Business Department Open Evening for all taught business masters programmes will take place in the Gallery Restaurant (upstairs) on Tuesday 7th February 2012 from 4.45 - 7pm.
