Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise Development
for Enterprise Centre Managers

The Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise Development has been designed specifically for Managers of Enterprise, Innovation or Incubation Centres. It is aimed at managers of Enterprise, Innovation and Incubation Centres, those who advise entrepreneurs in both start-up and development stages, and those who are interested in developing their careers through further education.

This programme leads to a fully-accredited Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise Development (NQAI Level 9), awarded by Waterford Institute of Technology. Much of the material has been adopted from the successful Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise Development awarded to participants of the South East Enterprise Platform Programme (SEEPP www.seepp.ie).

The first Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise Development for Enterprise, Innovation and Incubation Centre Managers commenced in September 2007 and will run for 12 months, with workshops taking place on 2 consecutive working days per month. Learning will take place through interactive workshops facilitated by experienced lecturers, external specialists, entrepreneurs and professional advisors. This approach will provide the Centre Managers with knowledge to further enhance their careers and their skills to assist clients to develop their respective businesses. It also creates valuable networking opportunities where participants meet with like-minded managers. The interactive workshops will cover all aspects of business start-up, management, early-stage growth and development. Workshop topics include:

- The Entrepreneurial Mindset
- Creativity & Innovation
- Product & Process Development
- Marketing
- Financing and Funding a Start-up
- Cost Management
- Strategic Business Planning
- Writing a Business Plan
- Personal Effectiveness
- Project Management
- Employment Law & HRM issues

Participants may be assigned an experienced academic mentor, who, during a series of meetings throughout the programme, will provide the participant with direction on the preparation of the three written submissions required of each participant, namely:

- Market Analysis Report (Month 3)
- Draft Business Plan (Month 6)
- Business Operations Plan (Month 12)

The programme costs are part-subsidised by Enterprise Ireland. Therefore the amount payable by each participant is EUR1500.00.
