The Centre for Management Research in Healthcare and Healthcare Economics

Current research shows, that at present in Ireland, there is a clear policy emphasis on improving the effectiveness and quality of healthcare services and interventions and a drive to increase responsiveness to service users.  The Centre for Management Research in Healthcare and Healthcare Economics, School of Business, was established with a remit to conduct and disseminate research in this previously underrepresented area in an Irish context.

Since its inception, the Centre has benefited from a collaborative partnership with the South-Eastern branch of the Health Services Executive (HSESE), which has facilitated both the joint identification of key research priorities and access to research sites where appropriate. A unique facet of the Centre is its multidisciplinary membership, which is reflected in its broad range of research activities.   In addition, members of the Centre have co-ordinated research skills training programmes, which have been delivered in hospitals in the region, and have advised internal hospital committees on aspects of strategy and implementation.
