Course Description
The BSc [Honours] in Quantity Surveying at WIT is accredited by the Society of Chartered Surveyors ( www.scs.ie ). Upon completion of the programme, graduates are eligible to complete the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) which will lead to becoming a Chartered Surveyor and a full member of both the Society of Chartered Surveyors (ASCS) and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). This programme has been designed to produce graduates who can successfully operate as professional quantity surveyors/costs consultants in the future Irish and global construction industry. They will be able to communicate effectively, have a working knowledge of relevant Information and Communications Technologies (ICT).
Career Opportunities
There has been a huge demand from the booming Irish construction industry for qualified Quantity Surveyors. This demand continues to exist with both Professional Quantity Surveying/Cost Consultant practices and with Construction companies.
Industrial Placement
Each student is required to complete a 30-week industrial placement relating to quantity surveying. This paid placement will be typically with either a quantity surveying consultancy or a construction company. Placements will normally be organised by WIT and be completed in Ireland. There is however the possibility of placements in the UK and further afield. Each placement will be have an academic supervisor and an industrial supervisor.

Advanced Entry
This four year ab-intio Level 8 programme (BSc (Honours) in Quantity Surveying) commenced in September 2007.
Applications for Year 1 of this programme for 2008/09 should be made directly to the CAO quoting the course code WD162.
We are currently inviting ADVANCED ENTRY applications for Year 3 of this programme from graduates of the WIT BSc in Construction Economics and would also consider applications from graduates of other similar programmes in other colleges.
