Throughout the programme, you will be involved in a wide variety of activities, including:

  • Working as part of the Outreach team in the Marketing & Communications Office to encourage other young people (primarily secondary school students from transition year through to leaving certificate in particular) to consider higher education in general and SETU Waterford in particular

  • Presenting SETU Waterford courses and campus life to school leavers, fifth and transition year students during school visits as part of a targeted schools campaign

  • Representing SETU Waterford at careers and graduate fairs as required

  • Offering campus tours to prospective students and showing visitors around SETU, answering their questions on student life

  • Assisting in the organisation of SETU Waterford recruitment events and representing the University at the event itself

  • Assisting in monitoring and updating of an active social media presence to existing and prospective students

  • Assisting in mainstream marketing activities such as advertising, collateral design and production, website update etc.

  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Marketing & Outreach Officer and/or other senior management.

This is a diverse and challenging role and we are looking for enthusiatic graduates of the univeristy with a range of interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills and high levels of motivation and initiative.
 

Qualification requirements (essential):

Candidates must have graduated/be graduating with a level 7 or level 8 degree (minimum 2.2) from South East Technological University in the last two years i.e. graduated in 2019, 2020 or graduating in 2021.
 

Essential skill requirements

  • Motivated, enthusiastic, reliable and a self-starter capable of generating ideas and seeing those ideas become reality

  • Excellent communications, listening and interpersonal skills

  • A flair for presenting

  • Capable of working as part of a team with a flexible approach to work

  • Full, clean driving licence

  • Access to a fully insured car

  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)


Desirable skill requirements

  • Evidence of good project management skills

  • Good writing skills

  • Strong interest in and knowledge of social media and websites

  • Enthusiastic about working with prospective students

Remuneration

This is a temporary wholetime contract and Graduate Ambassadors are paid €25,353 per annum (paid weekly) plus expenses


Hours of work

Your working hours are 36 hours per week and will typically be between 9.00am and 5.00pm. Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to work outside those hours from time to time.

Video Submission

Applicants are required to prepare a short video on why you would be an excellent Graduate Ambassador for the University.

Theme: “Why I would be an excellent ambassador for SETU”
Length: Approximately one minute
Production quality: Videos do not need to be high quality, edited pieces and recording the video on your phone is acceptable. Applicants are encouraged to focus on their personality rather than focussing on production quality.  Video submissions can be attached and emailed at time of application.  Alternatively, you may find it easier to email a download link for the video.
