Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Science

Welcome to the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Science, a community of over 700 students and 35 faculty members providing teaching, learning and research opportunities at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the area of health, sport and exercise science.

Undergraduate programmes include the BBs (Ord) Recreation and Sport Management, BBs (Hons) Recreation and Sport Management, BA (Hons) Health Promotion, and BA (Hons) Exercise and Health. As part of these courses students have an opportunity to complete a full semester of work placement on a national or international basis.

The department also delivers the Activity in Care Training programme.

Postgraduate programmes include the MA Sport Psychology and a HDip and MA in Social Personal Health Education. Postgraduate opportunities by research are also available.

The department is also actively involved in research. The Centre for Health Behaviour Research engages in research and consultancy relating to the exercise science, physical activity and health promotion fields, while the Centre for Sport and Exercise Psychology Research specialises in applied sport science research at elite performance level and also in the context of issues concerning exercise, health, lifestyle and quality of life.
