WIT WITCard
Your WITCard is your official ID card. You will get this on registration day. Every student and staff member has one. It shows your name, student number and photograph.
The WITCard is a multifunctional card and replace’s all other cards by integrating various applications onto one single card. Please see our introduction brochure here.
Laptop Purchase
To cater for the growing numbers of students enquiring about laptops to help with their studies, WIT is pleased to welcome Dell on site during registration to facilitate the purchase of entry level notebooks (small laptops) and more advanced laptops directly to students. In general, laptops are not a requirement for attendance on courses at WIT however many students find owning one to be a distinct advantage. WIT has many wireless hotspots located around the buildings to enable student access to Internet resources. Notebooks are chosen for price, portability but not performance and will enable browsing the web and basic document editing. If you expect to be running more advanced programs then these notebooks are not recommended, but the Dell representatives who will be here on Registration Day will be able to advise on more advanced options.
Note: This is a purchase agreement directly between the student and Dell. WIT cannot provide support services to students for personal laptops, all support will be provided by Dell.
Broadband
This year, once again O2 have combined with HEAnet (www.heanet.ie) to provide a subsidised portable broadband offering for third level students. Representatives from O2 will be on campus on Thursday 3rd Sept and Friday 4th Sept to enable students to sign up for this deal. Download a brochure here.
