Research Support Unit
The Research Support Unit (RSU) was established by the School of Research & Innovation to provide support for researchers who are directly engaged in funded research projects. The RSU aims to facilitate researchers through the provision of administrative services, organising information sessions and the establishment and maintenance of relevant databases and reporting systems. The RSU acts as the principal interface between WIT researchers and the funding agencies.
The Research Support Units main functions are:
- Alerting staff of research funding opportunities.
- Advice and support in relation to research proposals.
- Endorsement of all research proposals sent to external research sponsors.
- Assisting WIT staff with research project administration including contract preparation, recruitment of research assistants and students and processing project expenditure.
- Co-ordination of Institutional funding applications, e.g., TSR Strand I, II & III Programmes, Enterprise Ireland Equipment Grant Scheme and HEA PRTLI and RFES Programmes.
- Managing information systems such as the Step-by-Step Guide for Researchers, WIT proposals and projects database detailing all funded projects applied for and secured by WIT researchers.
- Collation of Annual Reports on research groups/centres and research active staff at WIT. View the 2010-2011 Annual Report Template.
- Providing research performance statistics and reports to external agencies.
- Organise and facilitate briefings, seminars and training for the research community on matters relating to research. View details of presentations held at WIT.
