Aleksandar Kostic:

•           Theory of Design:

Investigation of the Reflective Practice in Architecture and effects on knowledge creation

The role of Research through Design and design through research in knowledge creation

•           Philosophy and Architectural Design:

The impact of the epistemological concepts on theory of Design

Developing an interface between architecture and other disciplines

 

Fintan Duffy:

Practice-based research (as director with dhbArchitects) over the last 6 months and ongoing:

•           Conservation  study and survey, including measured drawings and conditions reports on No.17, St Stephen’s Green North, a Protected Structure of national importance, containing               historic decorative plasterwork by renowned Georgian stuccadore Michael Stapleton.

•           Conservation study and survey, and then adaptation and refurbishment as offices of No 30 O’Connell St Waterford, a protected structure and early concrete building, as the new                   headquarters of the Southern Regional Assembly.

 

Jane Russell-O’Connor:

•           Multi and interdisciplinary research  (landscape history/ecology – cultural/natural) related to landscape evaluation, classification and charactersiation

•           Reconstructing historic landscapes in landed estates

•           Ecological and historical hedgerow evaluation

•           Complexities and conflicts realized to promote sustainable landscapes

 

Sharon O’Brien:

Main Area: Spatial Aspects of Cultural Landscapes

•           Landscape Spatial Character Assessment & Visualization.

•           Methodologies for Spatial Analysis and Evaluation of Multiple Cultural Landscapes in River Valley Landscape Typologies in Ireland.

•           Comparative Analysis of National and International Landscape Spatial Practices & Models for Landscape Character Assessment.

Challenges Addressed:

•           Developing new methodologies for the spatial assessing and representation of multiple cultural landscapes within a defined landscape area for inclusion as assessment criteria in the National Landscape Strategy’s Landscape Character Assessment Model.  

•           Defining the value of landscape spatial research for informing decision-making and built environment design at local, regional and national level.
