I began lecturing in Waterford in 1989 after several years in accounting practice, industry and development work overseas. I have lectured on a range of programmes, both undergraduate and masters level, within the School of Business since then in accounting and taxation.
I have acted as examiner for accounting for the IIPA and external examiner for a number of courses in colleges in Limerick and Dublin.
I am the study abroad co-ordinator for the School of Business and am responsible for our international partners throughout the world.
I am the Programme Leader for the level 8 four year Bachelor of Business (Honours) , Bachelor of Business (Honours) with French, Bachelor of Business (Honours) with German, Bachelor of Business (Honours) with Irish and Bachelor of Business (Honours) with Chinese degrees.
I teach financial accounting and taxation on several programmes in WIT.
I am currently teaching on programmes in the Department of Management and Organisation and in the Department of Chemical and Life Sciences.
My Professional Experience
I qualified as a certified accountant and became a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 1986. The ACCA is a global body for professional accountants.
After qualifying I worked in practice in Ireland and in development work in Tanzania before entering the education sector.
I am a Fellow of the ACCA since 1991.
I am a founding member of Meitheal and its current chairman.
The Meitheal Group, in existence for almost 20 years, is a voluntary WIT staff initiative that raises funds from amongst faculty and other sources and administers those funds to approved overseas educational and development projects.
Meitheal presently assists the Housing for Boaca project in Nicaragua; the Anyanui School Building project in Ghana; the Nyumbani PolyTech project in Kenya; and also coordinates the WIT Library-Books for Africa project.
Meitheal is run by a steering committee comprised of colleagues from across the Institute and its membership comes from WIT staff (current and retired) and students (current and alumni).
If you are interested in joining/contributing to Meitheal, please email [email protected] and a committee member will be in touch.
