Eleanor is the Assistant Head of the Department of Science in the School of Science and Computing. She has over 19 years experience in course development, course co-ordination and overseeing the progression, placement and welfare of students. She has a vast range of experience and knowledge in the areas of Food Safety and Quality Management having worked for over 10 years as a Technical Manager in the food processing sector.
Eleanor`s current role includes formalising the Departments engagement with the wider society. As chair of the Schools Industry Board, she oversees industry and college activities which are mutually beneficial to students and company employees. The Department provides a number of part-time and flexible learning opportunities such as Springboard programmes and the National Laboratory Apprenticeships. Eleanor coordinates these programmes in the Department and is a member of the Consortia for Laboratory Apprenticeships.
She acts as a contact between the International Office and the Department of Science and is keen to see International activity within the Department grow through student/ staff mobility and collaborative activities in research. Eleanor is also chair of the Schools Promotion and Marketing committee.
BSc. (Hons) in Food Chemistry and Nutrition, University College Cork.
MSc.in European Food Regulatory Affairs, University College Dublin/University of Ulster.
Currently, undertaking the Higher Diploma in Business Management at WIT.
Eleanor was Programme Leader for the BSc. in Food Science with Business and the BSc. (Hons.) Food Science and Innovation from 2008 to 2017. She has taught modules in Nutrition, Food Regulation, Food Safety and HACCP. She has supervised final year projects for students studying Agricultural Science and Food Science
Eleanor prepares students for Work Placement in the food sector each year and promotes international traineeships.
