I am the Director of Programmes in the Centre for Enterprise Development and Regional Economy (CEDRE) at Waterford Institute of Technology where I have managed several enterprise/entrepreneur development programmes. These include the Enact (an enterprise programme for rural micro enterprises), the South East Enterprise Platform Programme (this was a notably start-up support programme contributing to the development of several high profile regional start-ups), Female Entrepreneurs Ireland-Wales (FEIW) and New Frontiers. I am highly experienced in working with start-ups and early stage businesses and have access to multiple entrepreneurship related networks relevant to early stage businesses. I have lectured in Marketing and Strategic Management at Waterford Institute of Technology and University College Cork. I have a keen interest in new venture formation and I manage the New Frontiers Entrepreneur Development programme at WIT.
I worked in international business development for 18 years having held senior management positions with organisations such as Diageo (Baileys), Waterford Crystal, Bin Hendi Enterprises, Tru-Life Inc. and A.T. Cross. I have lived and worked in the USA, Europe and the Middle East and have conducted business in over 50 international markets.
My research interests are in the areas of investment and competitiveness development in early stage businesses, and regional innovation development
My doctoral research tiltle is "Exploring the Impact of External Investors on Resource Availability in High Potential Start-up Businesses in Ireland"
I have lectured on the Post Graduate Diploma in Business in Enterprise Development (Marketing, Strategy and Business Planning)
I have lectured on the BSc in Airlines Transport Operations (Strategic Management, Consumer Behaviour and International Culture)
I have been involved in development of course materials for above courses plus the Masters in Business International and the BSc in Small Business Enterprise.
I have lectured part-time in UCC at under-graduate and post-graduate levels.
I present on Marketing, Business Model design and Strategy to participants on the New Frontiers Entrepreneur Development Programme.
I act/have acted as External Examiner for Technological University Dublin, University College Cork and Griffith College Dublin
I am an NCGE Entrepreneurship Educator Fellow plus a European Entrepreneurship Educators Fellow both awarded by the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship in the Britian.

I was made a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Training & Development in 2006.
I was appointed City Coordinator for Startup Gathering Waterford by Minister Jed Nash TD. The Startup Gathering is an exciting initiative led by Startup Ireland with a vision to make Ireland the best startup location by 2020. The initiative is included in the Government's Action Plan for Jobs 2015. The Startup Gathering will promote entrepreneurship and showcase Ireland's startup sector through a week of events across the Ireland October 2015.
I am the National Chair of the New Frontiers Programme Managers' Forum (appointed by Enterprise Ireland)
I was an active member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland for over 20 years having previously held the position of regional Chairman.
I served as a Director for Waterford Chamber and was also core member of the marketing committee for the Waterford Tall Ships Race.
