Ms Lorraine Dillon is a lecturer in the Department of Nursing and Healthcare in South East Technological University Waterford campus. Lorraine is the Programme Leader for the BSc in Intellectual Disability Nursing programme and also the Certificate in Respiratory Care Skills (ID).She holds a Masters in Clinical Health Science Education from Trinity College Dublin, a BSc (Hons) in Nursing from the Royal College of Surgeons and a Diploma in Intellectual Disability Nursing from the University fo Limerick.
Lorraine commenced her lecturing role in SETU in 2015 and she teaches across both undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the Department of Nursing and Healthcare. She uses a wide range of teaching and assessments methods and she is also involved in curriculum development across the programmes.
Lorraine qualified as a Registered Intellectual Disability nurse in 2004, she then worked predominantly with children with life limiting conditions for a number of years. She then commenced in a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 role in 2009 until 2012 where she provided management oversight to three homes that provided support to adult with an Intellectual Disability. In 2012 Lorraine commenced as Assistant Director of Services and during this time she was involved in the commencement of the HIQA regulation process, she had responsibility for policy development across the service and she also provided in house education and training to staff.
