Mohit is currently a Lecturer in Business Information Systems, Data Science and Computing with the Department of Accountancy and Economics, School of Business at Waterford Institute of Technology. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Programmable Autonomous Systems Division of Walton Institute; working on EU, National, International, and Industry funded projects. He worked as the Project and Tech Lead on EU-H2020 funded Smart Cities 2030 project. In Walton, he also worked within the Strategic Division at Walton, liaising with all the Research Divisions within the Institute. He has also been associated with the SFI funded VistaMilk Research Centre and CONNECT Centre. He has previously worked as an Experienced Software Research Engineer with the Emerging Networks Lab (ENL) division.
He earned his Ph.D. while working within ENL in TSSG from Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland in 2020. The title of his dissertation was ‘Fog Computing Support for Internet of Things Applications’. The work involved efficient design, development and deployment of IoT services into the Fog/Cloud computing environment, and on the data analytics functionality of these IoT applications in the Fog/Cloud computing environment. The work was validated through a real world deployment within the Smart Agriculture vertical.
He was also a visiting research fellow at IBM Research Labs, Ireland from 2017-2018. His current research interests include Fog and Cloud Computing, IoT, Distributed Systems, and Distributed Data Analytics. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from The LNM Institute of Information Technology, Jaipur, India in 2015.

Mohit joined TSSG (now Walton Institute) in 2015 as a Masters researcher as part of the SFI funded CONNECT research centre. During his master studies, he worked on SFI-CONNECT-IBM project ‘SmartHerd’, which focused on the health, welfare and monitoring of dairy cows, and the early detection of lameness in cattle with the help of technology. He moved to the PhD program in 2017 with the Department of Computing and Mathematics at the ENL research unit in TSSG, Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland. He further progressed to a parallel staff position as an Experienced Software Research Engineer at TSSG in 2019. In his role as a Software Research Engineer, he worked on the follow on use-case project MELD (Machine Learning for Early Lameness Detection) of SmartHerd, which was funded through the IoF2020 project under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
He has also worked on a CISCO funded project that developed a framework for dynamic task sharing and distributed decomposed data analytics in fog enabled IoT deployments with cloud support. His current research interests include Fog and Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Distributed Systems, and Distributed Data Analytics. His research focuses on leveraging fog computing for data analytics in IoT deployments, and in particular decomposing data analytics and machine learning programs for fog enabled IoT systems towards effective resource and service management to support and meet the requirements for real-time IoT analytics. He has also previously interned with ArcelorMittal, Kazakhstan. During SmartHerd project, he has also been on research exchange with Innovation Exchange, IBM Research Labs, Ireland.
