Ray has studied Culinary Arts, Tourism and Hospitality at Rockwell Hotel Collage: Hotel Management at GMIT: Advanced Restaurant Service at DIT: Masters in Education at WIT.
Prior to joining WIT, Ray spent 35 years working in the Irish Hospitality industry before turning towards education. Ray joined Waterford Institute of Technology in 1994 as a lecturer in Hospitality studies and has been Head of the Department of Languages Tourism and Hospitality since 2008.
A keen interest in benchmarking Irish Craft Skills across the world, Ray has been involved in national and international craft skills competitions since 1998 with many of his students achieving great success in the competitions.
Ray is currently Irish National Representative and a Vice President with the Association of European Hotel and Tourism Collages. (AEHT)
