On graduating with an Honours Degree in Architectural Technology from Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), I was the successful recipient of a Harvard scholarship to complete an internship at the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Paris. On returning from Paris, I went to work in London and Dublin to work in practice for various companies over several years before returning to education to complete a Masters in Urban and Building Conservation from University College Dublin (UCD).
I have been lecturing in Department of Architecture at WIT since 2001. During this time I have fulfilled multiple roles from Lecturing, Course Leadership, Programme Development to Applied Researcher. Currently he is Program leader of both the undergraduate Honours Degree in Architectural & BIM Technology and the postgraduate Higher Diploma in BIM.
In 2013, two of his colleagues and I, founded the BIMC Research Group, with the intention of conducting applied research for industry in the subject areas of BIM Technologies and BIM practices. The group have been very successful to date and have presented at their work at both national and international conference over the past 2 years. This work has complimented by my own research as I am currently a PhD candidate at the Digital Design Hub at the Glasgow School of Art (GSA) where my research is focused on re-interpreting the built heritage via the medium of virtual environments.
