My Biography

Education

Stepan Ivanov received Diploma with honors in applied mathematics and informatics from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia in 2007. Directly after completing his Diploma, Stepan joined the Telecommunication Software & Systems Group (TSSG) in Waterford Institute of Technology, where he received his Ph.D. degree in 2014.

WIT Career Experience

Since joining Telecommunications Software and Systems Group (TSSG) of Waterford Institute of Technology initially as a PhD student, Stepan has acquired his PhD and is currently employed at the TSSG as a postdoctoral researcher. Overall Stepan has more than 5 years of experience in basic and applied research in the area of Computer Science. Stepan is the lead author of several peer-reviewed conference and journal publications in the areas of bio-inspired network management, wireless sensor networking and performance modeling.

Since joining Telecommunications Software and Systems Group (TSSG) of Waterford Institute of Technology, Stepan has been involved into a number of research projects, including

  • as a Postdoctoral Researcher: “Prediction of Energy Demand, Wind Energy Supply and Price” (EMPATH), “Open Source, Web-Based, Framework for Integrating Applications with Cloud-based Services and Personal Cloudlets” (OPENi), “Using precision technologies, technology platforms and computational biology to increase the economic and environmental sustainability of pasture based production systems” (Precision Dairy),
  • as a Principal Investigator: “A Virtual Market for the Exchange of Personal Data” (MARGADH).

Teaching

Dr. Ivanov is currently supervising one postdoctoral student in the area of Wireless Sensor Based Analytics as part of the Precision Dairy project, jointly funded by Science Foundation Ireland and TEAGASC.
