I am a Researcher with TSSG/WIT and I am project manager for the EU H2020 funded TERAPOD Project which aims to investigate and demonstrate the feasability of ultra high bandwidth wireless access networks operating in the Terahertz band. The project will focus on end to end demonstration of the THz wireless link within a Data Centre Proof of Concept deployment. Previously I led the EU FP7 funded research project IPACSO. IPaCSO supports the development of innovative cyber security and privacy related activities in Europe. The project developed a structured knowledge and decision support innovation framework for identifying, assessing and exploiting market opportunities in the privacy and cyber security technology space.
I have strong technical, analytical and management skills; Project management, SQL, data analysis, requirements management, Automated testing, technical report and proposal writing I have In-depth knowledge of Irish and EU research funding systems including H2020 proposal evaluation and project reviews.
My research is currently focussed in 2 main areas TERAPOD which foucsses on Thz communication challenges and the other area of research is applying network theory to Research Networks funded by H2020 to optimise a network strategy for research impact. Previously I have been very active in the Cybersecurity domain in the following projects;
Aniketos project (www.aniketos.eu) focusing on trustworthiness, and secure behaviour in a service environment (total project funding €9.6M),
Think-Trust; investigated Trust, Security, Dependability, Privacy and Identity from ICT and Societal Perspectives. Provided visionary guidance on policy and research challenges in the field of security and trust in the Information Society and recommendations on research agenda and policy (total project funding €580,000)
VidAs; Peer to peer (P2P) video distribution technology funded byEnterprise Ireland’s Commercialisation Fund Technology Development Program.
SecurIST -EU FP7, development of the strategic research agenda for ICT Security and Dependability R&D . Leading security research project clustering, increased collaboration, dissemination and networking.
ESFORS -EU FP7, a Pan European Industry and Academic forum addressing security and dependability issues for software, services and systems
My Masters By Research (2006) was entitled:
An Exploratory Study of Knowledge Management and Management Control in Multi-nationals in Ireland.
I have recently been awarded my doctorate entitled:
An investigation of social and economic aspects of structural embeddedness in an ICT research network based in the European Union.
I was awarded a First Class Honours Master of Arts in Learning and Teaching which included modules in Pedagogy, Educational theory, Technology enhanced learning and blended learning.
Since 2019 I have lectured with the School of Business and Department of Computing and Maths. To date the modules I have been responsible for include Website Design, Print Media and Cloud Computing. My classes presented their final year assignment to an Industry panel for feedback and we also visited the TSSG data centre. Furthermore, I am active at EU level in leading workshops and reports for the European Commission while contributing to the H2020 strategic research agenda. In addition recently, I have led a number of boot camp training events with entrepreneurs across Ireland (Dublin, Belfast, Waterford) in the Cybersecurity domain.
Prior to joining TSSG/WIT I gained 10 years industry experience within I.T. systems and finance areas, with the following companies:
Sun Life Financial Waterford, Ireland
Nua, Dublin, Ireland
WestPac Sydney, Australia
Ericsson Dublin, Ireland
Hibernian Insurance Company Dublin, Ireland
Royal and Sun Alliance Dublin, Ireland
