This 15 month add-on (Level 8) is designed for graduates with a level 7 award in Social Care who wish to further their Applied Social care education. This course provides an opportunity for participants to develop knowledge  and skill in key areas such as management and is a necessary qualification  for those wishing to pursue postgraduate studies.

Delivery

15 months, 4 modules per semester,   1 day per week (Wednesday 9.00am – 5.00pm) classes are fully onsite

BA (Hons) in Applied Social Studies in Social Care (60 credits, Level 8)

€190 per 5 credit module

Bursary scheme 

€145 per 5 credit module (subject to eligibity)

Entry Requirements

Given there are limited places available on this course, applicants must:

• Have completed the part-time degree in social care through the Dept. of Lifelong Learning in WIT or have a level 7 degree in Applied  Social Studies in Social Care

• Currently work in a social care setting or have recently worked in a social care setting

• Satisfy the institutes Garda vetting and Fitness to Practice process

• Be aged 23 or over

There are a wide range of pathways available to graduates. 
Progression routes for part-time students are similar to those followed by full-time students, although many of the part-time learners are already employed throughout  various social care settings. This course provides an opportunity for participants to further develop their knowledge and skills in key areas of professional practice. It equips them with skills and knowledge required for management positions and with research  knowledge and skills required for research and/or taught postgraduate studies. A number of graduates of the part-time degree also progressed to set up their own businesses using innovative models of care. Their work practices reflect a blending of their life experiences, both personal and professional, and the knowledge gained whilst completing their award.
