The Certificate in Technology-Enhanced Learning is a Minor Award (30 credits, Level 9) for Education and Training professionals, who wish to develop their knowledge, practical skills and confidence in designing and creating content for the delivery of blended and online programmes.  It offers participants dynamic, collaborative and active options to engage with their students in blended and online platforms.  Throughout this practical programme, participants complete the following three 10-credit modules:

Blended Learning provides participants with the practical experience of implementing blended learning approaches to create interactive and online learning environments.  This module will introduce participants to the existing and emergent new technologies suitable for integration with traditional learning methods.  Participants are encouraged to critically analyse these new technologies with a view to enhancing the learning experience in a blended and online learning environment.

Curriculum Development and Assessment offers participants an expanded view of curriculum as formed from a number of influences and accountable to a number of stakeholders. It also provides participants with the requisite knowledge and competencies to enable them to become effective assessors of students’ learning in blended and online mode.

Content and Interaction for Teaching and Learning Online provides participants with a conceptual awareness of the impact of educational interfaces while focusing on the role of visual design, adopting a language-sensitive approach to the development of content online and considering new forms of assessment.

Applicants for this programme are required to have an Honours Degree (NFQ Level 8) or equivalent; and (ii) three years’ postgraduate experience working in an education and/or environment.

On successful completion of the programme, graduates may progress to compete the Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning or the MEd in Teaching and Learning.
