The Certificate in Community Studies will introduce community volunteers and activists who wish to develop their knowledge of the theory and practice of community education and development.  Participants will also learn to reflect on their own community practice, acquire skills in group work and set goals for their own personal development.  This programme is delivered in conjunction with Waterford Women’s Centre over one academic year.  On successful completion of this programme, graduates may progress to study the Higher Certificate in Community Development and Education.

Cost   €370 per module

Assessment   All assessment is by continuous assessment

 

 

 


 

The programme comprises the following 10 credits modules:

•         Personal Effectiveness for Community Workers (10 credits)
•         Group Work and Facilitation Skills (10 credits)
•         Community Development (10 credits)

  • Applicants must be 23 years or older as of 1 January 2019
  • International applicants must have an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent in English language proficiency
  • Applicants may be invited to attend an interview for the programme
