The Higher Certificate in Community Education and Development offers participants the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of community education and development in action.  Coming from a pro-equality, anti-poverty perspective, the programme lecturers encourage participants to become agents of positive change within their communities in order to tackle educational and community disadvantage.  The programme is delivered using group work methods with a focus on shared learning.

The course is aimed at those who:

  • Are active in their local community in either a voluntary or paid capacity

  • Have not had access to benefits from the formal education system

  • Work from an equality perspective.

  • Candidates must show a capacity for third level study. 

Places are offered based on the above criteria, suitable applicants will be called for interview.

Assessment:    All assessment is by continuing assessment

Cost:  €370 per  module
