This programme is at NQF Level 9 and it has been designed for participants who want to develop their Construction Project Management knowledge and skills at postgraduate level without leaving their employment. This two-year part-time programme incorporates 'blended learning', where technology and traditional modes of delivery are effectively merged.
While it is open to NQF Level 8 degree holders from construction related disciplines (e.g. Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Management), it is also open to those with either NQF Level 7 qualifications or Professional Body qualifications in addition to relevant work experience.
Completing this programme and gaining the MSc qualification should enable the successful participants to perform at a higher level in the Irish and International Construction Industry and generally enhance their overall career prospects.

The normal minimum expected entry requirement for the MSc in Construction Project Management will be a cognate accredited NFQ Level 8 Honours 2.2. Engineering or Science Degree.
Entry to the programmes may also be allowed via the Institute’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process on an individual case-by-case basis. This robust RPL process demonstrates that the candidate’s prior learning (education and experiential) has achieved outcomes commensurate with accredited Level 8 programme outcomes.
Each RPL applicant must submit of a portfolio of evidence that maps the prior learning against the required Level 8 outcomes. This portfolio is reviewed by the Programme Leader and Head of Department and is supplemented by an interview.

International Students are advised to contact the SETU Waterford International Office before submitting an application via PAC. The International Office staff will give guidelines on how to apply and use PAC. The International also assists the Programme Leader and the Head of Department in their assessment of each International applicant’s educational qualifications and suitability for the programme.
This includes a detailed review of all relevant documentation and in many cases interviews (e.g. via Skype). The minimum English Language Entry requirements are an overall IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6 with at least a 6 in each IELTS component.
The MSc in Construction Project Management is at NFQ Level 9 and has been designed to meet the accreditation standard of Engineers Ireland at Chartered level. Candidates who enter the programme with the relevant Level 8 qualification accredited by Engineers Ireland or recognised under the Washington Accord will have fully satisfied the education requirement for Chartered Engineer status on graduation with the MSc in Construction Project Management*.
However it is important to note that those candidates (Irish and/or International) who enter via the RPL process or have a degree qualification that is not accredited by Engineers Ireland/Washington Accord will have to subsequently confirm with Engineers Ireland on a case-by-case basis if they have fully met the education requirement for Chartered Engineer.
This two year version of the programme is delivered through a blend of traditional methods (lectures, workshops, seminars, tutorials, projects) and e-learning.Students will typically be required to attend SETU Waterford for 15 days during the year on 6 occasions of 2 or 3 days duration (all day Thursday & Friday and some Saturday mornings). Students will also use the Institute’s Learning Management System 'Moodle' and engage in online interaction. The teaching of some modules will be supplemented by problem-based material that will enable a more flexible and bespoke teaching and learning experience.
