What is the Master of Business in Marketing?
The MBS in Marketing is an one-year taught programme aimed at preparing graduates for marketing and sales careers within organisations. Through our interactions with companies, WIT School of Business has identified a need to provide an innovative and practice-based marketing programme which will prepare graduates for roles in marketing, branding, product development, sales, market research and international sales practice. The course was developed in collaboration with key stakeholders such as the South East branch of the Marketing Institute of Ireland and partner companies from the region including Glanbia and Flahavans.
The course addresses a clear need for graduates skilled in the application of specialist marketing techniques. Graduates are equipped with the expertise to trade domestically and internationally, create and execute advertising campaigns, collect and analyse data relating to market opportunities, manage customer relationships, develop and execute digital marketing strategies, and participate in the viability testing and launch of new product concepts.
Graduates of the MBS Marketing will possess a unique and valuable combination of an in-depth knowledge of marketing theory and of contemporary marketing practice, and an ability to apply this in a practice oriented environment. Modules such as Marketing Strategy, Business Seminars, Reputation Management, Business Simulation and Entrepreneurship and Innovation facilitate students in developing a keen critical awareness of core business concepts, as well as allowing them to specialise in developing skills in areas such as market research and development, branding , market strategy and international sales. Emphasis is placed on integrating key theoretical developments with an ability to critically analyse and apply this theory in real situations.
Who is the MBS Marketing for?
If you have a degree in marketing or a general business degree with a marketing major/specialization and you would like to pursue a career in marketing, then this programme has been designed with you in mind.

A H1 or 2.1 overall award in a strong specialist business marketing undergraduate degree or a general business undergraduate degree with a marketing major/specialism.
Students from a non-business degree (example - BA in Hospitality Management) must have taken relevant business modules during one year of their studies and achieved a minimum grade of 60% in those subjects.
In some instances graduates who have achieved a 2nd class honours grade 2 in the degrees listed above and who can demonstrate a high level of performance in the marketing related subjects may be considered for interview and short listing.

Submitting a Springboard Application
The MBS – Marketing is also offered under the Irish Government Springboard Programme for 2017/18. Springboard applicants must satisfy the Springboard Terms and Conditions outlined on the Springboard website (www.springboardcourses.ie). In addition, applicants must meet the above requirements with respect to undergraduate qualifications and English language qualifications.
Springboard applicants may also have to complete a Springboard form to be considered for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in line with the Institute’s RPL policy. The programme will conform to the standard WIT Postgraduate recruitment policies with regard to accreditation of prior learning.
There is no cost for eligible Springboard applicants. Applications for the MBS – Marketing by Springboard applicants can only be made via www.springboardcourses.ie. You will first need to register on the website, and then continue to make your application for the programme under the WIT list of programmes.
Very Important Checklist for all Applicants (PAC & Springboard)
All applications must be accompanied by the following documentation:
1. An up-to-date CV.
2. Scanned copies of all of your official educational qualification parchments.
3. Scanned copies of all of your official educational transcripts clearing showing the results you achieved in each subject/module.
4. Scanned copies of any professional qualifications/awards you wish to be considered.

6. A scanned copy of your Certificate of Qualification from the NQAI if your prior education is from outside the EU. For further information, please visit http://www.qualificationsrecognition.ie/. 7. Scanned copies of all of your employment references.
Given the expected demand for this programme, the documentation filenames you submit should be descriptive (i.e. the filenames should clearly describe the document along with your name (e.g.) JohnDoe-EnglishLanguageQual; JohnDoe-DegreeParchment; JohnDoe-EmployerRef1; etc., etc.).
This documentation should be scanned and emailed to Dr. Paul Morrissey, MBS – Marketing Programme Director at [email protected] immediately after you have submitted your application via www.pac.ie or www.springboardcourses.ie depending on the nature of your application. If this documentation is not received in full, and/or if all sections of the application form are not completed in full, then we will be unable to process your application.

Staff in the business school have nurtured important relationships with industry and the professional bodies over many years and these companies contact us regularly with employment opportunities. The MBS Marketing is closely aligned to the Waterford Crystal Centre for Marketing Studies, the RIKON research group and TSSG which provides an easily accessible network for our students to be informed on current ideas, thinking and employment opportunities in industry. WIT also has a well-established Careers Centre and website providing support and advice to students.
In our recent survey of graduate employment, c.90% of graduates are now in employment in positions such as digital marketing, CRM, brand management, sales, advertising, public relations and international sales and marketing development.
A graduate may also apply for further post graduate Level 10 studies, such as a PhD by Research in WIT or to other third level institutions, either nationally or internationally.
