Irish Wildlife Conservation 

This course will provide an introduction to some of Ireland’s biodiversity such as land mammals, song birds, plants, and will explore topics in sustainable agriculture and wildlife conservation and management. The course will introduce field survey skills, and will include an introduction to the use of DNA analysis as a means to verify field collected evidence. The course will aim to instill a wider appreciation of the Irish countryside, natural heritage and sustainable management.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, participants will have attained a broad overview of topics in
Irish Wildlife Conservation.

Progression and Career Opportunities

The course has been conceived by staff members of the WIT Department of Science and
will be delivered by the Department’s staff and researchers. The course will appeal to
science graduates, community group leaders, school teachers wishing to increase their
environmental skills, members of NGOs (e.g. - Irish Wildlife Trust), agriculture/forestry
workers/landowners, eco-tourism sector, environmental consultants, school leavers and
individuals with a general interest in the environment.
