The focus of the course is to provide students with the necessary skills to work in Information Technology and to make a contribution to the organisation in which they are employed.


Delivery

Students can choose to complete the course over one year, Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7-10pm and Saturday mornings 9.30am-12.30pm or over a longer period of time.

Qualification

BSc (Hons) in Information Technology (60 credits, Level 8)

Fee

€200 per 5 credit module, €400 per 10 credit module, €2,400

Bursary Scheme

€150 per 5 credit module, €300 per 10 credit (subject to eligibilty)

Information Technology Entry Requirements

Applicants should have successfully completed a BSc in Information Technology (Level 7) or equivalent to apply for this course.

IT Opportunities

Students who complete this course may advance to the taught or research masters programme in this area. The main career opportunities for graduates would be in the following areas:

  • Database developer/administrator

  • IT Consultant, Network engineer

  • Security consultant, Information systems manager

  • E-business provider

 

In addition graduates have found employment providing computing facilities in Banking, Services, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing and Civil Service sectors.
