The Higher Diploma in Production Management for Digital Animation is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career as Production Supervisors/Managers in the animation industry or for existing production managers looking to consolidate their knowledge and qualifications.
The Production Manager's role is to manage and control all aspects of a digital animation production encompassing Creative, Scheduling and Busness areas. This course is structured around the established workflow phases of a typical animated feature. It has been designed following extensive dialog with relevant enterprise partners (eg Cartoon Saloon, Brown Bag Films). As a result, the course clearly targets immediate and identified needs of the Animation Industry.
All modules reflect industry Project Management best practice. Semesters 1 and 2 address the critical production workflow and related project management disciplines. While Semester-3 offers Work Placement and Mentorship in association with Enterprise Partners.

The course is comprised of the following modules:
Film Analysis (5 credits)
History of Film/Animation and an analysis of Style, Direction and Production
Project Management (5 credits)
Project Management Principles including traditional scheduling and budgeting
3D Modelling Practice (5 credits)
Principles, tools and techniques for Modelling in Industry environment
3D Pipeline & Technologies (5 credits)
nderstanding and utilizing specialist technologies used in Pipeline
3D Animation Practice (5 credits)
Principles, tools and techniques for Animation in Industry environment
Management Studies (5 credits)
Advanced HR and team management, conflict resolution and negotiation & law
Post-Production Processing (5 credits)
Principles, tools and techniques for Post Production environment
Convergent Media Technologies (5 credits)
Advancing and exploiting digital assets for other media
Experiential Learning (20 Credits)
Work Placement, Mentoring and Projects

The course is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career as Production Supervisors/Managers in the animation industry or for existing production managers looking to consolidate their knowledge and qualifications.
Applicants should have a level 8 qualification or equivalent and may have a Management and/or IT and/or Design background combined with a desire for employment in the emerging Digital Animation Industry. RPL applications will be considered - to make an RPL application please electronically and comprehensively complete the RPL form and submit it along with full supporting documents (such as education certificates etc.)
