This introductory course is designed to enable the student to understand and use everyday
expressions and basic phrases.
In order to earn the 5 QQI / European Credit Transfer System credits that attach to this
module students would need to pass in-class assessment including 30% oral.

Contexts / themes that will be used include the following:
Providing personal details
Engaging in basic social interactions
Describing people and places
Giving and receiving directions
Travel and transport
Shopping for basics (focusing on numbers, quantities and costs)
Talking about time
Everyday transactions
Deciphering informational materials
