SETU Waterford E-Sport Scholarship Programme
The E-Sports Scholarship Programme at SETU Waterford is the first of its kind in Ireland and is in response to the rapidly growing area of E-Sports with many large sporting organisations such as Munster Rugby establishing their own E-Sports Team. The program offers a gamer led development programme aimed at supporting the overall development of elite gamers. The programme gives talented gamers the opportunity to develop both their game and academic career by offering a network of support services and expertise which is tailored around the specific needs of each individual student. The aim of the program is to increase SETU Waterford Sport’s engagement with the younger community who may not associate largely with traditional sport.
E-Sport Scholarships available at WIT:
Elite:
This programme is reserved for gamers who have demonstrated outstanding ability and have a proven track record of success at the highest level. These athletes will have received individual recognition for performances on the national or international stage. These gamers will receive a €2,000 bursary and individual support services.
E-Sport Scholarship:
E-Sport Scholarship is given to those students who are excelling in their chosen game and participating at the highest level they can compete at. Those awarded this scholarship will receive a financial bursary and full support services for the year.
· Tier 1: €1,000
· Tier 2: €500
Emerging Talent:
This programme is reserved for individuals who demonstrate that they have the potential to excel in their chosen discipline. The recipient will receive support services to support them in their academic studies and gaming performance. The recipient will also have the opportunity to be awarded a financial bursary within the same academic year as a result of excellent performances for SETU Waterford subject to review by the scholarship committee. The scholarship is primarily for 1 year but students can remain on the programme for a second year if the committee feels they have potential to make the progression to the next level.
Applying for an E-Sports Scholarship

Once the E-Sport Scholarship Committee has received an applicant’s completed application form, their application will be fully assessed. Prospective students have until August 31st 2023 to complete and submit their e-sport scholarship application. Students can apply for a sports scholarship in any given year of study. Applications will be considered from students enrolled on any undergraduate or postgraduate course.

Applications for 2023-2024 SETU Waterford Esport Scholarship programme will open Monday February 1st 2021 and applications will be accepted until August 31st 2023 at 5 pm.
