Our Aim:
- To run an athlete development programme that supports the holistic development of the scholarship student in the pursuit of their sporting and academic goals through a structured network of support services and expertise.
- To help increase South East Technological University's profile as a Third Level university that is recognised for its high level of sporting background and facilities, prowess and academic accolades.
- To help attract and entice athletes to SETU Waterford who are of outstanding sporting and educational ability.

- Applications will be considered from current SETU Waterford students and also from prospective students.
- In order to be considered for a sport scholarship prospective students must meet the SETU Waterford admission requirements through the CAO system and must enrol on a programme of academic study at SETU. Current students must show academic progression and maintain a satisfactory academic standard throughout the duration of their course.

- The SETU Waterford Sport Office will meet with the Scholarship Committee to consider recommendations for scholarships after the deadline for applications has closed.
- Recommendations will also be accepted from Development Officers for current students.
- All Applicants shall be notified of the outcome of their application whether they have been successful or not once a final decision has been made.
What’s expected:
- Sports scholarships are only valid for one year and one year only and must be reapplied for each year.
- All scholarship students must maintain satisfactory academic and sporting progress throughout the duration of the scholarship.
- In the event of a recipient’s performance falling below acceptable levels / standards or failing to comply with the conditions of the Scholarship Award, the Scholarship Committee reserves the right to withdraw all benefits of the scheme and remove the Student Athlete from the Scholarship Programme.
- All Scholarship Students must successfully pass their academic year to be eligible to apply/reapply for the following year.
- All scholarship students must sign a sports scholarship contract. Contracts will be made available to scholarship students.
- All sport scholarship students must make themselves available throughout the year for various PR or promotion opportunities.
- To be eligible for a scholarship, students must be fit to participate in their chosen sport by 30th September of the year of the awarding of a scholarship or by a date assigned by the SETU Waterford Sports Manager.
- Scholarship students must display at all times an appropriate standard of conduct and sportsmanship. Sport scholarship students shall never engage in any activity which may potentially bring the College into disrepute.
- Participation in Intervarsity’s, where eligible, is compulsory in the scholarship year. In exceptional circumstances where an athlete is chosen to represent national or other representative squads an athlete may be exempted from participating in the relevant intervarsity where this is a clash.
