About the club
SETU’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Society (LGBT) is a society for people who identify as LGBT or for people who support LGBT rights and believe that they should be treated equally in all aspects of their life. The society meets every second Thursday for DVD nights in college Street Rec Room and also does activities like bowling, quiz nights, nights out and pink training etc there is usually one other event every fortnight.
No matter who you are, what gender or sexual orientation you identify as, everyone is welcomed into the society. Our aim is to create a safe space so that no matter how comfortable you are with yourself this will be somewhere that everyone can be themselves, it is a place of fun, friendship and support when needed. The society is here to serve you as our members needs and wants so we will do our best to provide what people want to see. If for any reason throughout the year even just to have a coffee, or to give me tips on what you would like to see in the society please don’t hesitate to contact me by mailing the facebook page or emailing [email protected].
It can be very daunting coming to these events, especially if this is your first year of college, if you are nervous about attending any of the meetings/events don’t be afraid to avail of our buddy system where you can meet up with one of the committee members for coffee or a chat before hand and come to the event with us. To do this simply email [email protected] and we will get back to you asap, many people use do this in fact this is how I came to my first ever meeting 2 years ago. If this isn’t for you then why not bring a friend along with you, even if they are not in the society, everybody is welcome at the meetings, both members and non members. If you want to sign up in confidence or be added to our text messaging service, just drop us an email.
