About the Society
The Orchestral Society was established in September 2013 by students undertaking the Music course who are members of the SETU Orchestra. The society is based in the College Street Campus and is open to all SETU students with an interest in Classical, jazz and contemporary styles of music.
The society welcomes students from a diverse range of studies who have an interest in orchestral playing or even just listening to/watching this style of music being performed.
The SETU Orchestra performs a number of concerts throughout the year, in SETU's Good Shepherd Chapel and in various other venues around the country.
The society aims to allow 'Classical' musicians from any course in SETU to join the orchestra. There are many musicians throughout SETU who do not get a chance to play their instruments, so this is the perfect chance!
The Orchestral Society can provide some instruments on a fee-based loan system to members who wish to join the orchestra but who do not currently have their own instruments with them. Members of the society do not necessarily have to join the orchestra if they wish, but rather avail of various offers and discounts to concerts and venues around Waterford purely as a result of being an Orchestral Society member.
