Skydive SETU Waterford was founded in 2010 by Roy Byrne an architecture student and current chairman, the club now in its second year, has grown strong and is looking forward to a bright future. Our club provides support for SETU Waterford students to learn how to skydive. We run training camps in Ireland and progression trips to drop zones throughout Europe. We aim to produce safe competent skydivers to represent the University at intervarsity competitions. We also work closely with the Students Union and organise charity tandem skydives for RAG week.
So far this year the club has been to Skydive Europe in Portugal, where all of our students came home on free fall and some with their A license. Roy Byrne the first member of the club to represent SETU Waterford in competition, won bronze in the 2012 Irish Intervarsity hosted by Queens University Belfast Skydiving Club at the Wild Geese Skydiving Centre in Derry. There are two more trips on the schedule for the club this summer, hot-air balloon jumps in The Netherlands for our qualified skydivers and a progression trip to Gap in France.
The club will be in full operation all summer long, organising training days for complete beginners and working with on progression with its current members.
