Additional Points

If you have not attained sufficient points for the course you wish to apply for, it may be possible to be awarded additional points for successful completion of at least one semester of a first year programme at the Institute.

To qualify you must:

  • Have successfully completed at least one semester (30 credits) of a programme at the Institute up to a maximum of 60 points* for completion of two successful semesters within one academic year.

  • Attained the minimum requirements for the course you wish to be admitted to

  • Apply to the CAO before May 1st for entry to the course you wish to be admitted to

  • Declared previous Higher Education on the CAO form

  • Complete the application form AP1 (available at Reception, Cork Road campus) and return the completed form to Reception, Cork Road campus not later than 4.00 p.m. on June 17th 2016.

  • Paper based applications (After May 1st) to the CAO are not eligible for the Additional Points process

  • Applicants who do not include a current valid CAO number for the 2016/17 academic year on the AP1 form are not eligible for the Additional Points process.

Please note that additional points may not apply to all programmes, for further clarification please contact the Admissions Office or the Retention Officer.

Completed application (Part B) must be returned to Reception, Cork Road Campus by June 17th 2016, at 4.00 p.m.  Once completed and submitted to the main Reception on the Cork Road Campus please retain the stamped acknowledgement below as evidence of application.

There is a €20 administration charge payable by WIT card only at reception when submitting this application. 
Please also provide an official copy of your WIT examination results and attach to the application form.
