Job Description

Graduate Engineer, SET (Signal, Electrical and Telecoms)

ROLE & PURPOSE:

Graduate Engineering positions based in the SET department, assisting in the delivery of key projects, and providing engineering support for railway signaling systems.

REPORTS TO:

Signaling Design Manager

WORKING  RELATIONSHIP WITH:

SET and IM Colleagues

KEY  QUALITIES: ESSENTIAL:

Level 8 Honours Degree in electrical/electronic engineering or another relevant Level 8 qualification.

DESIRABLE:

  • Full Clean Driving License
  • Excellent IT Skills
  • Excellent planning, scheduling and organizational skills.
  • Membership of a professional engineering body.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety

To act as a focus for safety in line with the SET SMS and to discharge your safety responsibilities as outlined by your reporting Manager.

Engineering

To ensure the implementation of policies, standards and strategies in line with SET Technical Standards and Company policy.

People

To ensure effective communication with all colleagues within your area and to adhere to corporate people management policies.

SPECIFIC  RESPONSIBILITIES:

SAFETY

  • Ensure a key focus on safety at all times
  • Carry out assigned tasks in a safe manner, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards.

ENGINEERING

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team delivering key railway signaling projects.
  • Provide engineering support in the design, testing, installation and maintenance of safety-critical railway signaling systems. Signaling systems include  modern electronic interlocking, train detection systems, train protection systems, computer based train control systems, and various PLC based applications.
  • Ensure compliance with all technical standards and procedures
  • Deliver assigned tasks/actions on time and to required standard.

PEOPLE

  • Communicate effectively  with staff across various  departments  within Irish Rail.
  • Adhere to corporate HR policy and procedures

 

The salary for the positions is is €39,163 per annum paid monthly.

Working week 36 hours (9.00am -17.12pm)

Annual leave 25 days.
