Job Description

The Lismore Opera Festival seeks a Marketing & Social media intern to work on its 2017 opera festival.

The Lismore Opera Festival was established in 2010 and has presented 7 original productions of popular operas since then. LOF has established itself as Ireland’s only summer opera festival.

In 2017 the festival will present 2 nights of Donizetti's L'Elisir d'lamore in the stable yard of Lismore Castle on Friday 2nd and Saturday  3rd of June.  Each evening has 500 capacity in it's pop up operahouse in the castle stables.

The festival also presents a series of recitals in the large country homes along the Blackwater River. This year we will host lunchtime recitals in Tourin House, Cappoquin House, Salterbridge House and Fortwilliam Estate.

The festival also has offers patrons a variety of dining options including formal dining, informal and casual dining aswell as a selection of wines and bubbles which we sell in advance to customers.

LOF has a very respected and important Schools Education programme with 500 local school children and youth groups attending the opera each year.

We are looking for someone who is very social media savvy, someone who has experience and or a qualification in social and digital media marketing. We want the LOF to be innovative and clever on social media and to help drive awareness, sales and comment about the festival. We also want to work and interact more closely with the young people who attend our education programme.

We need our intern to join the team in the new year and to work closely with the festival founder and producer as well as other members of the team to ensure maximum content opportunities.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Marketing & Social media strategy

§  Create the social media strategy with the Festival Producer

§  Support the Festival Producer in the implementation of the marketing strategy

§  Create budgets for social media activities

§  Plan social media campaigns

§  Work with internal stakeholders/festival team to create and identify interesting and relevant content and opportunities

§  Manage change and adopt social media on an ongoing and proactive basis

§  Integrate social media activities with marketing plan.

Social media implementation:

§  Manage social media campaigns and day to day activities in a proactive manner

§  Manage presence in social networking sites

§  Brand advocacy

§  Community outreach

§  Manage a blogger outreach program

§  Build a brand ambassador network

§  Post and comment on relevant blogs

§  Seed content into social networks

§  Write editorial content

§  Create and upload videos

§  Engage in conversations and answer questions

§  Create and maintain a social media editorial calendar and posting schedule

Social media monitoring:

§  Develop benchmark metrics to measure the results of social media programs

§  Analyse and evaluate social media campaigns and strategies

§  Report on effectiveness of campaigns

§  Monitor trends in social media

§  Monitor the activities of main competitors in social media

§  Monitor social space for brand and related topics and conversations

§  Understand how the social media impacts search traffic
