Job Description

Job Title:                         Shift Manager

Responsible to:                Store Owner

Direct Reports:                All Sales Team Members and Trainee Manager

Secondary Reports:         Fresh Food Manager

 

Main Purpose of the Job:           

  • To ensure the store operates efficiently and effectively and provides our customers with the very best customer service and fresh food offering at all times.
  • To deliver on key store targets (sales and profitability) through effective management of people and operations.

Main Duties:

  • To always ensure that looking after the customer is the number one priority - ahead of everything else we do.
  • To develop and train the team to meet Centra standards; by coaching, counselling, undertaking performance appraisals, and assessing training requirements for the team and ensure programs are in place in association with the Store Owner
  • To ensure duties and functions of staff members are carried out effectively and efficiently, providing employee feedback on a regular basis.
  • To achieve sales targets, gross profit margin, net margin and other KPIs as agreed with Store Owner
  • To control overheads as per Annual Budget
  • To ensure full team have been set targets on Sales, Gross Profit, Wastage and to agree such with them
  • To ensure merchandising and presentation of entire store is of the highest standard at all times and in accordance with relevant store planograms and guidelines
  • To deliver and achieve Retail Excellence standards across the whole store
  • To control stocktaking procedures
  • To ensure the Hygiene award is achieved annually
  • To ensure Service Excellence is a way of life in the whole store
  • To encourage a good working relationship with all staff and with local community
  • To hold regular communication meetings with management and staff
  • To have an in-depth knowledge of all legislation as it pertains to this store, in particular, Health and Safety Regulations, Employment Legislation etc
  • To manage and co-ordinate in-store and national promotions
  • To be aware and implement all information that relates to your store which helps to gain efficiencies in operation i.e. reports/ scanning info etc
  • To attend relevant conferences and seminars as directed by Store Owner
  • To seek opportunities to develop yourself in relation to technical training and professional development
  • To discharge any other duties as may be required of you from time to time
  • To actively live the brand values i.e. be Proud, Energetic, Imaginative and Community Based and engage others to do the same
