The School of Education and Lifelong Learning in conjunction with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Office invited staff and students on June 15th, 2022, to the launch of the inaugural Vicky Phelan Honorary Research Chair in Equality which was launched on March 8th this year as part of marking International Women’s Day.
This new Honorary Research Chair was established in order to create a permanent link between the values embodied by Vicky and the values of our community.
The successful recipient will be entitled to use the title ‘The Vicky Phelan Chair in Equality and Access to Education’ for a period of 3 years. The Honorary Chair attracts an annual grant of €5,000 and the recipient will conduct and disseminate research on the theme of equality and access to education, with a particular focus on women.
The SETU President designate Professor Veronica Campbell announced at this event that Dr Maebh Savage is the first recipient of this new Honorary Research Chair role.
