The exhibition is organised by final year architectural students and staff in the Department of Architecture, WIT, along with Garter Lane Arts centre as part of a 'Project Space' initiative.
The exhibition will be official opened on Wednesday 13 March at 6:30pm by Michael Hayes MRIA, Editor of Architecture Ireland. The exhibited objects represent different parts from the myth about the God Eros and Psyche. This story which came to us from a roman writer Apuleius is the oldest novel preserved in the history of western civilisation. The students of final year of architecture created objects which capture the essence of the story. Also exhibited are design objects which further the students’ exploration in pursuit of their design topics
The reflective design process commences with the concept and the concept is developed through the exploration of ideas. An idea can emanate from the site, a function or sometimes a text. During the first semester of the students explore the development of the idea in this way using a variety of media such as drawings, models and design methods are applied as part of this exploration in parallel with a research theme. As the idea becomes a programme in the second semester the models and drawings, serving as the basis for its abstract expression, become the points of reference for its detailed development throughout the life of the project.
