The Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) Lean Enterprise Excellence Group presents its Lean Practitioner Seminar Series, free monthly events which bring together practitioners in lean enterprise, operational and process excellence to share knowledge, experience, expertise, and good practices.
The forthcoming event will focus on enterprise excellence in hospitality, with guest speaker General Manager of Pembroke Kilkenny, Paul Broderick.
The event, which will take place on Wednesday 15 March from 6 -8 will be held in room F06 of the WIT Cork Road Campus and is in association with Waterford Chamber skillnet.
In this hospitality seminar, Paul will share some key experiences, insights, and learnings from the continuous improvement journey at Pembroke Kilkenny. This Seminar will be of interest to those in the Hospitality sector and services as well as those from across all sectors with an interest in continuous improvement, Lean, and enterprise excellence as it will emphasise the people side and getting “heads, hands, and hearts” committed to the continuous improvement and excellence journey.
Paul Broderick has 17 years’ experience in hospitality, primarily at 4* and 5* locations. He joined Pembroke Kilkenny as Senior Assistant Manager in 2010, and in 2011 was promoted to General Manager. The hotel has grown from 40 to 65 employees, and has increased profitability by 136% over 5 years. In January 2015, Pembroke Kilkenny was invited on a journey by the Centre of Excellence Ireland to become the South East’s first EFQM accredited Hotel.
