Network Skills Development Programme

Network Skills Development Programme
Location: Waterford Institute of Technology

Aimed at front-line workers who wish to develop their career prospects by expanding their network of contacts and engaging with their local higher education provider, this is a free-of-charge short programme co-developed & delivered by Waterford Institute of Technology & Institute of Technology Carlow as part of the Technological University for the South East initiative.

This blended learning programme, comprising a 2-hour “taster evening workshop” with follow-up on-line forum and webinar, is open to front-line workers from small firms of less than 50 employees, with an option to attend at either the WIT or IT Carlow campus. No prior higher education experience is required to participate in the programme.

In addition to meeting other small firm employees in your region, you will interact with WIT and ITC faculty of Business, Lifelong Learning & Education and E-Learning along with other regional business stakeholders, offering an opportunity to experience higher education while expanding your business networks.

As part of the programme you will be assigned a facilitator/tutor who will assist you to work through the following programme elements:

  • A short pre-programme exercise based around your current role;

  • Participation in a 2 hour ‘taster evening workshop’ held from 5.30 pm each evening which will develop your network skills and help you to identify future learning requirements.

  • We will then help you to develop a small business-led project to apply what you have learned in the workshop;

  • Participation in one online forum in April 2019 will include participants from both workshops (ITC/WIT) along with other regional stakeholders to support the workshop and business project outcomes;

  • Upon satisfactory completion of the above components you will receive a certificate of attendance.

Funded under the South East Institutes of Technology Cross-Institutional Collaborative Project Fund 2018, there is no cost to participate however places are limited to a maximum of 20 participants per campus. We are now accepting applications for the programme through a direct application process.
