WIT Secondary Schools Engineering Team Challenge 2018
(6 teams of 3 students; TY, Senior Cycle)

Date Time Venue
Wednesday 28 February 9:30 am – 15:15 pm Atrium, Cork Rd Campus WIT

This fast paced team Engineering Challenge will take place in WIT on Wednesday 28th February. Each School team (3 students) will be joined by a 3rd or 4th year Engineering Student from WIT.  Teams will be challenged to develop an engineering based solution for a local project/ activity. Teams will first be briefed by WIT Lecturers and Judges on the challenge they must undertake and will then be given 3 hours to work together to come up with a solution to the challenge and prepare an 8 minute pitch (using power point slides). PC’s and Internet access will be available to the teams.

Each School wishing to take part should select one team of 3 students from transition year, 5th or 6th year. Students need not necessarily be studying an engineering subject, indeed a team with a spread of subjects such as, Maths, Business/ Finance, Science, Technology and Engineering etc. might work better.

Each team will present their final pitch to the judges on Wednesday afternoon and will be required to answer questions from the judges. The winning team will be presented with the WIT Schools Engineering Challenge Trophy and a prize. Parents, teachers and fellow students will be free to attend the presentations and award ceremony in the WIT atrium from 1:45 – 3:15 pm.

Places for the competition are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis.
