The School of Engineering at WIT will host a three day Engineering Your Future event in conjunction with STEPS and Engineers Ireland. 40 Transition Year students will have the opportunity to gain 'hands on experice' of engineering through workshops, labs, site visits and talks. The objectives are to:
- Gain a better understanding of the skills required of engineers and the career opportunities available to qualified engineers.
- Learn about the disciplines and technologies making up the exciting world of engineering.
- Meet engineers at various stages in their careers and hear about their experiences.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of the diversity of engineering at third level and its subject content.
- Experience what engineers do on a daily basis through industry visits
Further information is available on the STEPS website. Students should display an interest in engineering and should also give reasons for wanting to come to WIT for the programme. Students must cover their own travel expenses to and from college and must commit to attending every day of the programme.
The Engineers Ireland STEPS programme encourages primary and post-primary students to explore the world of STEM while also promoting engineering as a career choice.
Note: a second week may be added if there is strong interest. Please email Mary Doyle-Kent at [email protected].
