This event is a collaboration between the Department of Nursing & Healthcare WIT, Dr Bernadette Flanagan in the School of Humanities and SpIRE (Spirituality Institute for Research and Education). The aim of the webinar is to highlight the importance of spirituality in our everyday lives, and in particular to consider its importance in the provision of healthcare.
Speaking at the event we are fortunate to have Prof Philip Larkin, University of Lausanne, Switzerland . An Irish national, Philip Larkin has over 30 years of experience in the palliative care sector, both clinically and academically. He has become an important figure in the field in Ireland and elsewhere. As Professor of Palliative Care, he has led the development of the All Ireland Institute for Hospice and Palliative Care (AIHPC), a public health project bringing together experts in palliative care to improve the outcome for citizens all over the island of Ireland. Prof Larkin is speaking about Spirituality in Healthcare.
Dr Philip Brennan and Ms Sandra Murnane will speak of their spirituality in the context of their lives and the importance of music and the arts. Representatives from SpIRE including the Director Dr Michael O Sullivan, and the Dean of Nursing UCD and visiting Professor at WIT Prof Fiona Timmins, will speak about the importance of the inclusion of spirituality in the nursing curriculum.
