Dr Sean Healy, director of Social Justice Ireland is the speaker for the Inaugural lecture on the Economy + Society Lecture Series lecture. The title of the lecture is Work, Income and Participation in a Changing World and takes place on 14 March 2018 5.15-6.45 Room F02: School of Business, WIT.
While Ireland's economy has recovered from the economic crash of 2008 many people find themselves in precarious employment with low, uncertain incomes and little voice in shaping the key decisions that impact on them. Across the developed world the reality of employment, income distribution and participation is changing radically and a rapidly growing number of people are excluded from the benefits of economic growth. New approaches are needed on each of these issues. This presentation will analyse the present situation and spell out concrete pathways towards securing everyone's right to meaningful work, adequate income and real participation in the 21st century. Seán Healy was co-author of A New Social Contract for a New Century published in 2017. He is CEO of Social Justice Ireland, an independent think-tank and justice advocacy organisation. He is a member of the National Economic and Social Council.
