Young Pianists from WIT Music School will take to the stage on Wednesday 25 September at 7.30 pm in St Mary's Church, New Ross for the annual New Ross Piano Festival, Young Pianists Concert. The Festival runs from Wednesday 25 to Sunday 29 September.
For several of our young pianists, this will be their first time performing in the concert, under the watchful and supportive eye of the Festival's artistic director, Finghin Collins.
The Young Pianists concert this year will be dedicated to Karl Kirby, one of our talented pianists who sadly passed away in June. Karl was a regular performer at the concert from a young age, often taking to the stage on the same night as his three sisters Katie, Lucy and Sophie. We are delighted his younger sister Sophie is due to perform on Wednesday night.
This concert is always very enjoyable with a great range of repertoire, styles and performers, who may range in age from 6 or 7 to 18 or 19. The atmosphere is positive and inclusive. The pieces are usually short and could be anything from Bach to Einaudi. The concert usually lasts about an hour and refreshments are offered to the performers afterwards.
