Plastics: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly - is a STE(A)M project bringing Science and Art together to create an art installation exploring the use, potential and threats of plastic.

Pupils from Presentation Primary School and TY students from Presentation Secondary School have been working for the past few months, taking a closer look at plastics to understand what it is, how it is made, why it is so popular and the threats that plastic poses for our environment – and what can be done to recycle, reuse, reduce and replace plastics. They have worked with local artist Rachel Smith to express their findings through art. Senator Grace O’Sullivan also worked with the pupils to explore the environmental impacts of our reliance on plastics. We would like to invite you to see the results of these explorations in a thought-provoking art installation which will be exhibited at Garter Lane Arts Centre from 15 to 19 January 2019.

This project is coordinated by Calmast, Waterford Institute of Technology’s STEM Outreach Centre and supported by Creative Ireland (Waterford).
