2017 marks the centenary of events in World War 1 - events that have shaped the modern world including the most iconic of the battles of that conflict, the battle and mud of Passchendaele.
To commemorate the immense human sacrifice, the Department of Nursing and Health Care is holding a conference illustrating the contribution of health care workers in this ‘war to end all wars’ and the toll it took upon such people as nurses and stretcher bearers.
This commemorative event will explore, through illustrative individual stories, the human cost of the war and the events it unleashed and the impacts on these individuals. The conference will explore Irish, the British and Austrian experience of this war.
